Summer gingham

To me, nothing screams summertime louder than gingham.  The print makes me think of watermelon, picnics and glass bottled Coke.  And while the first day of summer is still two weeks away, the summer heat has already set in in Tallahassee.  I’m embracing the season in this thrifted vintage dress (found on a charming weekend trip to Charlotte, NC).

I have a soft spot for classic, vintage shapes like the one of this dress.  To avoid looking like an extra on Mad Men, I always try to include some modern details to make the ensemble look more current.  These Prabal Gurung strappy, geometric heels do the trick.

What prints epitomize summer for you?  Do you have a go-to uniform for the hot summer months?

  1. It isn’t summer without navy and white stripes for me – summer just doesn’t exist without wearing them together! Must be a residue of holidays by the sea. Gorgeous dress btw. Jx
