2013 / Brand Reviews / Hair, Makeup and Beauty

As a new Lucky Magazine community contributor, I recently received a bottle of Seventh Generation firming skin serum and in return was asked to share how I build the perfect all-natural look.  When I think of natural, I think of healthy.  Healthy skin and hair are the building blocks for effortless style.

I’ve recently adopted a vegan diet for my health–not to mention for all the hair and skin benefits a plant-centric diet provides.  I’ve also made a point to take better care of my skin in my twenties (a crucial time to ensure our young skin will keep looking young), using more sunscreen and moisturizer.  As I’m becoming more conscious of my physical health, along with the health of my skin and hair, this gift from Lucky couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time!

Seventh Generation, well-known for its green cleaning products, offers a line of natural skin boosting serums including formulas to hydrate, soothe, revitalize, clear and protect skin–all without clogging pores. I began incorporating 2 pumps of the Firming serum (with Baobab oil) in to my nightly routine for a week and noticed softer, yet stronger skin.  The minty aroma and refreshing, tingly sensation are a nice touch right before bed, a perfect addition to a minty brushing and flossing routine.

I’m a minimalist when it comes to beauty products, always sticking to the basics. I believe natural style stems from a no-fuss routine that allows skin and hair to shine–mine includes the products below:

1.  Seventh Generation Firming Boost is a perfect ‘preventative’ product helps me nourish my skin now for younger looking skin later.

2. Bumble and bumble. Surf Spray adds a touch of texture to hair, like the gorgeous beach waves you get after a day by the ocean. I’ll spritz some on a messy bun overnight for loose waves in the morning or spray it on damp hair for day-of styling.

3. I discovered Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter through Birchbox!  This eyeshadow-like powder imparts a natural glow and helps you look more awake when applied just under your eyebrows.

4. Maybelline Volum’ Express Cat Eyes mascara, my favorite drugstore eye makeup, adds a touch of glam to an all-natural look.  I never leave the house without appliying a few swipes!
