Fall-ing for floral

I see floral in a whole new light in the fall. For many, the print tends to conjure up thoughts of spring time, but I think a rich, vibrant floral is the epitome of September–perfect to wear as we depart from flip-flop season and approach sweater weather. This gorgeous Ann Taylor dress acts as a perfect day-to-night piece with enough class for the office, yet enough flair for cocktails.

I may be the biggest advocate for mixing patterns and avoiding an ultra-matchy look, but a print containing so many colors lends itself to coordination–a different kind of coordination. I matched my accessories to colors present in the floral, but not to one another. I drew violet, magenta and peach from the dress with my nails, heels and clutch. A variation of accessories prevents an ensemble from becoming cluttered by aΒ single color while still complementing the print.

What I wore: Ann Taylor dress, thrifted heels (similar hereΒ & here), Forever 21 link bracelet (old, similar here), Old Navy crocodile bracelet (old, similar here), thrifted clutch (similar here), thrifted sunglasses (similar here)
